Princesses

A week or so ago, my husband and I set up our studio and invited some lovely ladies from our Church to come and have their photos taken – wearing my costumes! (I’m in the pink dress in the back). My hubby took all the photos and all us ladies just posed and looked pretty for the camera! We’ll probably post more photos at a later date, but I thought I’d at least show one of the group shots and one of me.

Man it was just awesome to see all my creations being worn at the same time. You can see each of the costumes (and more besides) on my website if you’re interested.

Anyhoos, sorry for not posting too much this week. I’ve been in a real writing mood, so art has been placed on the back burner as I work on a manuscript I should have finished long ago.

Also, I’ve transferred the lines for my “HoneyD” artwork to acrylic paper and I hope to at least get him started over the weekend. He’s gonna be A4 now which is roughly 8×11 inches. Will post progress shots as usual as I go. <3

Scarlet Sashay Costume – WiP: Bodice

The bodice is almost finished. There’s three layers of material – brocade on the outside, satin on the inside and interfacing in between them to strengthen, with eight pieces of boning to give it shape. I just have to overlock the edges, make the holes for the eyelets then finish the edges with some bias tape. I should mention that in the final dress & bodice there will be no visible stitching on the oustside! ^^

Below is the material I bought for the overdress. It’s a gorgeous brocade I scored from the local market for only $10 per metre! In fabric shops it’d be at least $30-$50 per metre, so I was pretty happy when I found it! The dark red material is a lovely satin that I’ll line the overdress with.
